You could pull enough wire into the light shell and then cut, retape and that way your connection will be inside the shell out of site!!!

Guess it depends on the light, mine had to be spliced anyway so I pulled enough out of the neck that the splice could be pushed back in. I soldered them and used some heat shrink.

Are you talking about a new light with a matching connector? I can’t imagine not pulling the connector out of the frame and connecting it. I managed it and I’m not the world’s greatest mechanic.

There’s a thread on here somewhere that details how to do it. In my case it required unbolting the tank – I remember that much, but it wasn’t crazy hard to do.

My new harness was wired wrong and shoots the brights on dim and vice versa – you might check on your new light and switch the leads if you find that your light is known to do the same. I didn’t find out till I had mine hooked up.

I installed one of these on my bike. I used the stock harness from the bulb socket all the way to the plug. It was any easy swap and best of all, no cut wires.

this is the light I bought. If I used the harness how would I connect these wires to it?

Like someone else said - I pulled the wiring out of the stock bucket and fished it into the new light. No cutting/splicing and I could have the stock light back on in no time.

You new light - if it has the 3 prong connector on the back of the bulb, don't pay attention to the wires poking out the bottom. Run the stock wiring in it's place.
