The I is for fuel injection, they dropped it a year or so after all the bikes were FI.

My apologies to red devil and bberk for calling them out, but your 2008 Street Bob is an FXDB. The FXDBI designation applies only to the 2006 Street Bob. Being the first year of the Street Bob, the '06 has a fuel injected TC-88. It was the only bike offered in 2006 with a 6 speed transmission. Starting in 2007 the Street Bob had the larger TC-96 motor and HD dropped the I.

No apologies needed but not sure were my statement was wrong

You are correct the 06 was the only year the SB had the I but it had nothing to do with the motor or the transmission. When FI was a option not standard they added a I to the end to the FI models. In 2007 they all went FI so they stopped using the I. My buddies 01 Duece is a FXSTDI because its FI.

edit: I do believe all the 06 Dynas were also FI it didnt become standard on the rest of the models till 07 so they still used the I on 06 Dynas even though it was standard.

Agree with bberck. Had an 04 FLHTI - Electra Glide Standard, with fuel injection. My 09 FLHTC is an Electra Glide Classic. It's fuelie but since they all are the MoCo stopped using the I since it was essentially redundant and meaningless.

Default 6 Speed

The Street Bob was not the only Harley to have a 6 speed in 06, softails also had them. That was the first year the softies had a 200mm rear tire.
