Default Solo seat for touring?

I have a Sundowner seat on my bike now but want to get a solo seat good for touring(500+ mile days). And that will also move the rider forward about 1". Anyone have an experience with one- maybe Corbin or Mustang or....? Jay

well one thing for sure your comfort will be more effected by the shape of the seat than the depth of the foam. So If the shape of your current seat is perfect for you, then it is probably best to continue with a seat shaped like you have. The corbins are very firm seats. I love firm seats vs softer ones. I know from riding my tripper that you don't need a lot of foam and an ugly seat to be comfortable. You just need one thats fits your *** right. Take C&C seats... other than myself everyone raves about their comfort. I found the seat excruciating.... something about the shape and contour just does not work for me. I also find the sundowner and big mustang seats darn uncomfortable to sit on as well. Give me a hard flat seat anyday. This is the rub, we all have different bodies and what works for one, may not work for you. It's even worse for long distance road cyclists.

Mustang Vintage Solo works for me. Have done up to 500 miles in a day no problem. I'm 6 ft and 215 lbs. But, like Rounder says - everyone is different and what's good for one is not necessarily good for another.

I take it the sundowner isn't a 500 mi. seat or you'd be buying a solo sundowner. As the others have said, everybutt is unique. Bike fest season is starting and many of the top companies have displays at these. I plan to check out Mustang at Daytona BikeWeeks the end of this month. Might consider finding a rally and delaying decision until you can check some seats out in person.

Got a solo Sundowner on my Dyna and I would say it moved me back a little, rather than forwards on the bike. I don't use it for long trips, got a dresser for that!

Another vote for the Mustang vintage solo. I have ridden 600 mile days with no problems. It really is comfortable. I think it may have moved me forward about an inch if I remember correctly.

Cheers,

Tom

mustang solo here too, get the one with the backrest that you can take off when you are just cruising the town. one of the best investments on the bike.
