Might also want to consider Rosa's Cycles in Huntington. They've been doing work on my bike for years. Great reputation! (The HD dealers send bikes to them for performance upgrades). They're always featured in the tech articles in American Iron magazine.

Please remember to set the tension on your Schließmuskels valve when doing your own service-a leaky valve at highway speeds could be catastrophic.

I'm a newbie but started in straight away with a small indy for a couple of reasons. If there's a problem I know exactly who did the work and who I can bring my beef to. I also figure that a guy who has his rep on the line constantly is going to be more motivated to do a good job. And I also think they are probably better and more experienced than most mechanics at a dealership. And also I think that they probably appreciate the value of a customer more than a big dealership. All generalizations of course.

I do all my own work but I would trust an indy shop to hit everything before I would a Dealer. Keep in mind no one cares more about your bike then you do. No one will care about doing a good job as you will.

I have had 6 services so far... 1K 3K 5K 7.5K 10K & 12.5K... 3 at 3 different Harley Dealers and 3 at 2 different indys. 6 services and 5 different places. They all sucked. I won't get into the reasons. I have 14,700 on the bike now and have no idea what to do next!

I just wish I was a better mechanic.

I am located in the East Meadow area. I called North Shore they said their labor rate was 90 dollars an hour. If that is the case I might be better off at my local dealer charging 98 dollars an hour. Not much savings with North Shore, but I do hear good things about them.
