Default fork brace

wondering what the purpose of the fork brace is ? i have an 07 street bob and it seems that the fork brace takes the place of the fender on some of the bikes i see in this forum just wondering if their is more to it than that?

I have one, I'm a believer. I've used them on other bikes with good results as well. Here's a little description of what they do:

You will have less flex in your forks. This will be felt most when riding windy roads at high speed. I am a believer as well.

You'll prob'ly get a 50/50 split from believers/detractors. I love mine, and it felt like it made my front end more "solid"...could'a been 'placebo effect'. BUT, the compliments I get on it are [so far] universally positive. Most popular comment seems to be, "That looks tuff as hell!" I agree. With the upgraded dust caps, I had to hog out my fender mount holes so it would clear the brace.

I notice mine vs not having it. I do have a 41mm front end so it could be that they make more of a difference on 39 & 41mm fork tubes over the 49mm ones on the 06+ dynas.

I bought one a while back and really couldn't feel any difference with the brace on...I decided to put it back on (the third time) cuz I figure it "might" help in certain conditions and leaving it on doesn't hurt anything other than adding about 1 1/2 lbs of unsprung weight.

IMO, I don't think the 49mm forks need a brace...

I had one back in the day on my FXLR. I found that it really increased the stability in the twisties, and when I was really riding hard in the canyons. Day to day riding couldn't really tell any difference. It's designed to reduce flex in the forks, and provide better tracking in the hard corners. It worked for me. On the + side, they just look great!

Do ya'll really believe that the 49mm front end flexes? I can see a 39 or possible the 41mm flexing but the 49...not so much. If you were running an extended front end then I might see a reason but I had one on my WG and I took it off. I didn't see any reason for it.
