Default 6 speeds

i just put my 07 eg standard in the garage. any of you 6 shooters have a sound like a loose chain in 5th gear? i was able to put 130 miles on it and 5th gear does a lot of wining. i hope 500 to a thousand miles will be what she needs.

aren't 5 and 6 on a separate shaft? I would think that would make a little more noise than the non-6ers

5th does whine a bit.....

Haven't heard that before 'cept occasionally 4th on a 5 speed....

Not all that often....

Think that it might have to be the back cut gears... Gotta wait and see though...

I think that 5th & 6th are on the mainshaft, but 1st & 5th are both spur gears. Maybe that is why they whine? I have 5200 miles on my 06 SG and I still get the 5th gear whine and a bit in 1st as well. It's only those two though and the only reason I could come up with is because they are both spur gears. The bike still runs great, so I'm not sweating it.

Mine sounds like it's going to come apart in fifth gear. I just ride the heII out of it anyway. If it comes apart, it comes apart.

Mine sounds the same no matter which gear I am using. But it's kinda hard to hear over the pipes anyway.
