Carb bikes do have a different idle than the EFI bikes. That's the nature of the beast. Now the dealer wants to put in a DynoJet kit in that most people with carbs have had problems with. If you are handy with tools and comfortable working on your bike, you can mod your carb for under $15.00. If you put on the S/E air cleaner and mufflers at the same time then the fuel/air mixture has to be readjusted. You could probably find some Cycle Shack slip-ons for your bike at a more economic price. Cycle Shack, I think, was the mfg. of the S/E mufflers.

I'm assuming the bike was running rough and you took it to the dealer to have them look at it?
First the bike should be running fine before those upgrades are done, they won't fix the problem only mask it.
Does it run rough only at idle or all the time?
Does it backfire at all? If so, thru the carb or the exhaust?
The carb may be dirty or you might have gotten some bad gas.
Has the fuel mixture plug under at the bottom of the carb been removed?
Have the spark plugs been replaced?

Your bike has low miles on it, has it been sitting for a while?

Thanks-
new Bike to me. picked it up for 5300 2 months ago. the gentleman i purchased it from had it checked out and detailed the day before i purchased at the dealer. Iv only went around the block a few times(nj)and it sounded pretty good to me.. I also put in some seafoam and shut her down. i had planned on getting forwards put on and another air cleaner when the weather breaks. maybe Ill wait and see what this HD dealer says. although im guessing once they put the vin number in it might come up.

Those aren't the stock tapered mufflers, Why not take it to an indy (commercial shop, non-HD dealer) who is familiar with Harleys. It's quite possible the idle has been turned down by the previous owner to get that "Harley sound". Why wouldn't the dealer adjust the idle, you ask? Then he can't sell the DJ kit and make money. It's called up selling. That's a good looking bike you acquired. Super01 asked some questions. Is there a black plastic air filter box behind that football ?
