For what it is worth, I had the best of both worlds.
I had a 2000 dyna wide glide, with a heritage classic
front wheel and tire. That bike would roll around the
twisties like two marbles on a glass tabel, hell it was
that smooth. I used a fat boy front fender to cover
the front tire it was great. Just think I had a fat glide
a long time before the fat bob ever came out. I would
still be riding it if a cage hadn't ran a stop sign. What I
have now is the only thing that can compaire to what I
had, so far

dfanucci, you did right, sit on both and decide for yourself..For your wifes comfort look at a new seat, they make a wide passenger seat that goes right on the WG and it works with the original solo seat.

I just installed that new passenger pillion Jeff W is talking about. Looks pretty good and is 1000x more comfortable than the stock brick. The wifey is actually looking forward to it.

As for which one to buy...I've been Harley shopping for about a year, before the WG's became available, and the Lowrider was the bike of choice until the WG's came back. The minute I surfed onto HD's website and saw it, my jaw dropped and I knew that would be in my garage at some point....and now it is.....I paid 17K with pipes, breather, ecm download, turn signal visor covers, tags/titile and the sissy bar backpad...

I love my '06 Wide; think it's the coolest LOOKING Harley. With bags and a Sundowner or Touring seat, it's an able long distance cruiser. If I didn't have my Wide, I'd want a Fat. It'll be culture shock for you at highway speeds; you'll think you're lugging it at 65 in 5th or 6th, after being used to the Sporty. I think you'll be s'prised at how fast the Dynas lay over into a turn...my buddy's Sporty seems to take all day to lay over...you're gonna love the twisties.

bob, sundowner seat-quick release backrest&shield..wife is good to

go! When you change tires., loose the tractor treads, rides 100%

better. Rented a wg for day, nice bike, fb just fits me better

If comfort is an issue on the sporty, why not just change out the stock seat?

To clarify..the WG has 34* in the neck, 2* in the trees for a total of 36*.

To the person who said the steering on the WG is slower, I beg to differ. The bike doesn't make the rider. The rider makes the bike. Understand?

The Wide Glide steering geometry is slower to react. It's mathematics. Understand?

Mathmatically, yeah. But dont forget the human factor. Very few riders whether they want to admitt it or not are rideing their bikes to the limits of their "mathmatical" capability. I have no problem in the twisties on my 06WG, and leave Sportsters in the dust. But "mathmatically" they handle better in the curves.....

Both bikes are kick ***. Get the one that does it for you and dont look back.

What a smart a$$

You can get dual caliper set ups. There are millions of after market possibilities for these bikes. From the riding you are talking about doing, you may not even want to spend the cash on the duals.
