Removing baffles???
I was told when I bought my Low Rider that it has either Screamin' Eagle or "Stage One" slip on mufflers. I simply took the guy at his word since the bike is considerably louder than anything stock, but never crazy loud or anything. I recently installed the screaimg eagle intake and module and wanted to pull the baffles. I also rejetted the bike and its running better than ever and pulls hard. Anyways, I took off the mufflers and removed the bolt holding the baffles in, but for the life of me, I can't get or even "knock" those things out. Any suggestions? Do they even come out??? For all that matter...are these mufflers even upgraded or just stock worn out originals? They are stamped Harley Davidson. Heres a pic. Please advise.

BL, did you check the underside of the muffs for a part number? All the later model HDs I've seen have PNs and other info stamped into the underside, usually back toward the end. Impossible to read unless you lift the bike or pull the muffs.
Baffles on some are welded in. I've heard of guys running rebar down through to open them up some. Not very adjustable so dunno what happens if the bike doesn't like it.

Rounder, your exactly right. The reason I wanted to pull the baffles was to see if it made a difference. And ever since I did the other stuff, the bike sounds kinda like its weezing. Taddeoeg, they must be held in by SOMETHING, cause they won't come out for nuttin'. There was a bolt, but even with that removed, it wouldn't budge. So, being the stubbon oof that I am, I did them up "old school". I rammed a 1 inch bar stock threw them and viola! Free breathing muffs. The baffles are still mostly intack, only they sound a ton better. You can see in the pics, that pretty much all that happened was I punched out the plug that was set in the middle of the mufflers. As you see in the pics, the mufflers are NOT straight threw by any means. The bike just sounds better, louder and runs better. I'm way to cheap to put on the expensive slip-ons, so unless I'm unhappy with this incarnation, I'm gonna give them a go. We only got a short break from the rain today, but it does seem to run a bunch better. So far so good.

good move on opening them up. for the most part taking the whole baffle out will effect your torque negatively. will certainly be loud though. I had to pull baffles to change em out of another set of pipes I had. 1 would not budge.... here's what I did..... stick pipe in freezer for 1/2 hour or so. Now, remove and heat the pipe with a blow dryer or heat gun from the outside, as the heat expands the outer pipe, the baffle will remain cold and will just fall right out(with some light tapping).
