Default Where should I cut my fender?

Ok so I dont like the tail light or the holes on the back of the fender and I want to cut it but where? My goal is really just to get rid of the tailight. As you can see in the picture I ride 2-up sometimes so chopping the whole thing is out of the question. Do I make a line from the end of the strut over just above the light or something else. Thanks for the help guys.

Cut it where ever you think it looks good.

been researching this all night. True I need to just mock it up a couple of times with tape. Doenst the tailight house all of the electrical for the turn signals? How do you keep the signals and lose the tailight. (I plan on using that connector that converts signals to brakelamps also)

HD sells the connector to give you the ability to run your sigs as run/stop/turns....or other places if you look. I believe this is only 30 bucks or so from HD.

the '10 WG uses this setup.

Ive heard of people taking the taillight internals out of the housing and locating it under the seat. Then just extending your signal wires to reach it. That was my plan but during a ride with a mock-up I had going, the wire harness fell into my wheel and all the electrical got ripped out. : ) So I tossed the taillight and all and just wired my signals into the leads under the seat. Bypassing the taillight all together wont effect how the brake/turn module works.

the circuit board in the taillight housing is nothing more than a juction box for your wires. if you install the run/brake module under your seat(it just plugs inline, takes 2 seconds) you can get ride of the module and just run the turn signal wire to control the lights. as far as cutting the fender, just pick a spotbehind the rear strut bolt, tape off and draw a line that looks good to you. i used 2 layers of blue painters tape and a jigsaw with a fine tooth blade. then cleaned it up with a flap wheel on a grinder.

another option on whereto cut

Don't cut it unless you plan on dropping it lower. IMO its sits too high and dosen't flow with the bike once it's cut.

Thanks guys for all the information and great links! I found everything I was looking for. You guys have some great bobbed fenders they look very clean. I agree with bobber S that I might have to lower it even more to make it flow. I have the lowering blocks on but in the picture the shocks were set up for 2-up riding. I made the mistake of not adjusting them once and we rubbed everytime I hit the brake....or a bump....or gave it gas. I think I will try and tackle this. I guess I can just buy another fender if I screw it up. Thanks again guys.
