Nightrider designed XIED

Here's a link to a thread that will give you every bit of information you could ask for and then some. There is a bit of BS, infighting and stronger than average opinions in some of the posts but if you can wade through it you'll know more about the XiEDs than 99% of the forum members.

I've had one on my '08 Bob almost since I bought it. Depending on whether you've done any engine, intake, exhaust mods it may improve the low and mid-range torque and might even deepen the exhaust note a bit... it certainly did all that for me. BTW, I'm also running a full stage 1. As for heat, well that was a secondary consideration for me but I've non scientifically decided that it probably did drop temps a few degrees if only because the mixture is now richer. The XiED gets my vote!
If after reading the above linked thread you still have questions don't hesitate to call Nightrider and talk to Steve Mullen. He's a great guy and very willing to answer questions.

Worth the $$ is a judgement call. They don't hurt anything. They do reduce radiated heat feeling and fuel mileage tree or four points, it was more comfortable but still pretty hot. They really did not do anything for drivability for me. There are more effective ways to reduce heat and also improve drivability, but you need to spend $400-$500. There could be some used ones around, they are relatively cheap and a lot of riders try them before moving onto something more sophisticated.

Reading that whole thread, was where I started with the forum. I have the XiED's, and the main thing that I like about them. I can run just at idle or just above (while riding down gravel driveway) without the bike wanting to surge all the time. As far as the heat, never checked either way. By the way nice bike you have Toplink.
