Thanks for the pics. looks good. I was hoping to move my forwards back a bit also.

 

I made mine last night out of 5/16 steel I had. They came out really good, I meant to take pic's, but it was 2 AM and I had ot get home..lol

A couple fo issues though...

1. The holes on my 09 Dyna FXDC are 1 7/8 apart, not 1.5" not sure why, but I made the holes the correct size when I drilled them mbased on my forward controls.

2. How did you get the the bracket that is vertical between the forward control and the shifter rod not to hit the primary case? Do I need to buy a new rod or something?

 

You could try to adjust the shifting rod lenght.
You have to take it off the shift lever (front) and the transmission shift lever (rear) and loosen the locknuts.
Now you will be able to turn the rod end in or out.
If the rod is to short, you could replace it by a S/s one and have it threaded; if it is to long, cut it and add some more thread.

The rod I got with my Harley Forward controls is not adjustable. I may need to buy a new rod.

 

When I moved the forward control backwards it rotated the arm you are referring to forward. I did not make any adjustments to the shift rod. All I did was remove the shifter from the splined shaft and reinstall it at an angle that I needed.

 

I will try that, but when I shift it as it is, the vertical part conected to the shift rod hits the primary case when I shift up.

 

I had that problem when I tried to move the controls back more than 1 1/4" so I had to make another set of brackets. When I upshift I only have about 1/8" gap between the shift arm and the primary.

 

So were the ones you posted the ones you used? I used them as a template. I can make another on for that side and move it forward a 1/4".

 

FXDRider - You have a Dyna, how do you have the bracket for the forward control shifter to go through?
