I spent $8500 on my WG and it only had 2700 mi on it earlier this summer.......hold out for a good deal. When you see it, pull the trigger before someone else does. The search shouldn't be long or hard in this economy and with the cold weather.

Good luck. Keep us posted.

boy you guys are rough on the mileage guys. 2004 with 72k hmmm dam my bike will have that on it when its 6 years old. My bike was bought in june of 2007 and as of today i have 42,000 miles on it and not even 3 years old yet till this june of 2010. and i live in ohio.

But you guys are right thats why my bike will be a keeper won't be worth **** if i wanted to sell it due to the high miles.

about 1 1/2 or 2 years ago i found my uncle a 2004 lowrider that was loaded with accesories and braided cables 3 seats etc for $8,000 and it only had 4,400 miles on it so that would mean that guys bike aint worth alot.

i can say around here in oklahoma, you can get a dyna that is almost new for almost of the sticker price on a new one. bikes around here are CHEAP right now and its definetly a buyers market. wish i fit the "buyers" category right now so i could help stimulate the economy, but ill stick with what i got. there are some great deals to be had so dont jump on the first thing you see

His problem is that his max budget is $6000. He thinks the sportsters are too small for him and his wife (maybe a combined weight of 350-370 or so) to ride on together comfortably. I have kind of sold him on the dyna, but I think there is a little inferiority complex with the dyna because my wife rides one. He has also been looking at Kawi Vulcan 1500's in that price range as well. I think the Vulcan is a nice bike, but personally I would much rather a slightly older (00-02) Dyna than a Kawasaki.

If his budget is 6K, he really does not have much of a choice. If he has a inferiority complex about a dyna, how is he gonna feel riding a jap cruiser Harley wannabe. Hope he can find a bike he likes for only 6K. Also, if he has only 6K does he have the money to keep the bike well maintained over the next few years. IMHO, 6K=a metric cruiser or maybe a triumph bonneville if he want something cool.
I would not get an older Harley unless he has the budget to fix it and maintain it.

I agree with you Rounder. The Kawi was his idea. He feels that a Vulcan is the next best thing next to a Harley. He had a Ninja for about a week before he got hit while standing at a stop sign (talk about bad luck). He has ridden here and there since then, but not had his own bike. I am not a dead set Harley guy. Granted, I love mine, and probably wouldnt buy anything else (since I can afford a newer harley), but at the same time, wouldn't be embarrassed to ride a jap bike.

I am not real sure what he will end up doing. I have seen many great deals out there on Dynas. My wife's is an 05 and we only paid $7200 for it, and that was in late spring, which is probably the worst time to buy. I dont think he ever heard back from the guy on that 72k mile bike anyway. Its probably for the best.
