Default 72k mile 04 FXDLi...what do ya'll think?

So my brother in law is looking at buy himself a bike again. Its been probably 5 or 6 years since he had one, but is finally ready to get back on. He has riden my softail many times and likes that, but doesnt quite want to spend that much.

What do you all think of a 72k mile 04 low rider fuel injected 95ci? Here is the CL ad: http://york.craigslist.org/mcy/1536431076.html
He is waiting to hear back from the guy what he wants for it. What kind of maintance should he be asking if has been done or what concerns should he have with a bike with that kind of miles?

Good lord that's a lot of miles! Unless he can get it really cheap, I wouldn't buy it.

In todays market you can do very well looking for low milage low priced dynas. Don't jump at the first one you see.

"Needs nothing", but it's gonna soon, I'd bet. I'd wanna know when the motor mods were done, and by whom. 72k is a boatload of miles for a mild, "stock" motor. For a soup'd up motor, all the more so. Unless it is a SUPER deal, I'd bide my time and watch the bikes on ebay. I read a Dyna post a few days ago about a guy who tossed in a lowball bid and won a newer, low-mile Dyna for cheap ($5300?). My $.02

Is that York, PA? 14k miles per year isn't unheard of here in the South but seems high for the north unless the guy is really hardcore. So my first question would be is that a typo? If not, I wouldn't pay any more than 4-5000 for that bike IF it looks, sounds, and checks out good.

I would check the maintenance record, if there is one. 72k miles is a lot with nothing done to it. Right off the top of my head would be the cam chain tension shoes.

If it's more than $3,000 it is too much. Low mileage 2007-2008 Dynas are a dime a dozen all over the place. And they are going for $9k-$12k for under 2,000 miles, etc. Look around. Hell, you can get a Sportster with under 1,000 miles for $4,500 just about anywhere.
