Default What SE A/C part no?

I've seen some comments that the SE A/C is garbage, and a K&N filter should be used instead, which leads down another rat's nest of product numbers etc. I also see that there is a new SE A/C that just came out.

What do I need to buy for my '06 DCI? Going to using the SERT as soon as I get it.

Thanks

K&N sells a complete kit I believ the part number is RK-3909 It is a much better filter.
I think the only difference in the new SE kit is the backing plate.

HD-0800 is the part number for the K&N that fits the Screaming Eagle backing plate.

I got mine from Autozone for $32 plus tax.

The Arlen Ness Stage 1 Big Sucker comes with a K&N element. Eastern Performance will put one on your door step for just under a HD (hundred dollers). I've seen a filter from Zipper's for even less but they don't claim the element is a K&N. Why pay a lot more for the SE kit which you have to add a K&N element to?

SE Chrome backing plate is $40
The K&N air filter is about $34
You also need the little rubber crankcase breathers that work with the SE backing plate.

Way cheaper than buying the SE air cleaner as a kit.

If you buy all the parts separately, you can get the chrome SE AC backplate, assorted screws and hardware and a KN filter for around $100 total.

You will need to order -

1. Gasket 29583-01
2. Plug, breather (2) 29557-05
3. “O”-ring (2) 11292
4. Stud, air cleaner mounting (3) 29447-99A
5. Screw, button head, 1/4-20 x 3/8 in. long (3) 3938

You will also need a backplate.. part number for the standard SE backplate is 29478-05, if you want the chrome one it is 29510-05. KN filter is HD-0800.

If you need a copy of the installation instructions, send me a PM. If the gasket is out of stock, don't worry about it. I used my original gasket with no probs.

I ordered all the parts from Zanottis. Here is a link.. https://www.zanottimotor.com/shopping/partLookUp.html

Takes about three days to get the parts. The KN filter is widely available on the web for $39. Or you can order it directly from KN for $50.

Good luck.
