No doubt that a fully blacked out bike looks more sinister, while chrome has its own appeal. I had a gloss black horn cover and a wrinkle black a/c cover plate but went back to chrome ones after awhile. Those tank badges may have to go. I can see me getting a black exhaust and changing my mind later, so I think I will just stick with what is on there now. For awhile, anyway.

Well I may as well post mine up. I have chrome short shots and was wondering myself if black pipes would look better. If the chrome heat shields on the pipes ever get scratched up I think I'll have them powdercoated black.

Powdercoat the heat shields???? That is a SUPERB idea and is short $$$

For now though I think she'll keep the chrome pipes...maybe black big shots....who knows? Gotta love Harleys, bro's....

Side note to nevil - your bike is closest twin to my own I have seen yet....sweet lookin' ride if I do say so. I see you mentioned getting rid of the tank badges - I just swapped my stock badges out today with the ones they use for the 2010 WG see pic
I think they compliment the black bob better

Happy NY!!!

I've been slowly blackening things. I went 50/50 on the pipes.

How did you do half your pipes, Bobstreetbob? Paint or powdercoat? Looks nice.
I think the next thing on my bike to get blacked out is going to have to be the lower fork tubes. Those things are getting pretty messed up. I'd love to have the rockers black too but that will have to be sometime in the future.

Thanks, I want to do my lowers too. I took the top half of the heat shields, sanded the chrome, Rattle canned some high temp paint, let them dry about 20 minutes and threw them in the kitchen oven right on the baking rack for about 45 minutes @ 450 degrees to cure them. Then stuck 'em back on.
