I hate mine, but I commute on my bike and need the storage. Eventually I'm gonna change to some sort of quick disconnect bag.

Wear a back pack... looks cooler and more convenient.

Default Cool is a strong word...

I think they can look acceptable... kind of coolish
I'm a new member here and not allowed yet to upload images... but I'll do it later on.

I have a black denim Fat Bob with the OEM leather saddlebags in black. I modified the license plate holder, so the angle now matches the angle of the backside of my bags. It's a little change but makes a big difference in my opinion. I travel a lot and do need the space. I haven't seen any "cooler" option yet.

My Dyna is also a touring bike. I think the quick detach bags were a great investment. I get a lot of compliments on my bike so it must look cool enough.

Well, they're leather with zippers, so I don't expect they're 100% waterproof. However leather can be made pretty resistant with treatments. I haven't treated them yet, but I have leather balm that adds water resistance. But to answer your question, I don't know for sure.

I do don a backpack once in a while myself for my commute but I don't care what anyone else thinks of it.

An interesting side note. Have been considering bags for my Dyna. Same issues as already addressed.
Last week my granddaughter bought a set of V & H slip-on's for her '15 883 Camo Iron. She hates bags because " they don't look cool". So she loaded them in her backpack for a 25 mile ride to her dad's house, my oldest son, to put them on. Due to the weight, and sore shoulders and back, she is considering some sort of bags herself now.
I'm thinking I might look for a hard set that follows the rear fender contour, and detachable too, in conjunction with a solo seat and full fender rack I'm looking at. I have seen pics of the bags in question but no idea the brand.
As always, to each his own.
