I bought these nelson rigg spirit 50 bags for a bike I used to have. Just for grins I put them on my FXDC for the Lone Star Rally, I attended last weekend.
A very simple and quick install with the straps going under the seat. They are reinforced and require no add'l hardware to keep them hanging straight.
They don't lock and aren't waterproof, but I was able to put tools, oil, shoes, bungees, gloves, basically lots of stuff for the trip. Takes just minutes to install or remove, and they fit perfectly between the shocks and turn signals.
I ordered them from an accessory vendor and paid around $70.00 for them.
They look good on the bike, too. No, they don't look like leather, but I don't care, they work for me...dd50

Just ran across this thread while looking for pics of Super Glides w/ hard bags.
I picked up a '72 FX a couple of months ago. Along with it I was given a name and number for a guy that had some '72 parts he wanted to sell.
I bought everything he had, which included a set of hard bags complete with mounting brackets and chrome wrap-around guards, which I assume came off a FL model.
One day I got curious and mounted them (sans the guards) to my bike. The FX uses the FL frame so they bolted right up.
I wasn't convinced I wanted keep them on the bike but would hang on to them for future use.
I was going for a mild swing arm chopper look.
Well, I guess this is the future cause now I'm thinking of mounting them up again. I know that most bikes don't look good with bags, especially smaller bikes, but I'm looking for something to make my bike more unique, make it stand out from the others. Here's a pic of the earlier mock up I did.
So here's my question, not whether they look good or not, that's subjective, but to paint them black or white? Black would make them blend in, white would look more like old 'Glides of the '60s.
