clicker, sailor don, and glider -- thanks a bunch!
in all honesty I got LUCKY..... if you watch the video I posted above, the part where they're marking the bags for placement of the brackets... I didn't have a second set of hands.
I had a big mirror up against the wall so I could see it from the side as I was holding the bags up.... and I was able to draw some crooked lines that I had to guesstimate.
My main goal was to get the top of the bags to be in line with my bobtail fender and that kind of put everything else in line (shocks...etc). I couldn't set the brackets much higher on the bags to get the bags to get lower because there just wasn't enough room to get all 4 mounting points on a solid surface. That's one of the problems when working with newer-style FLH bags (the cut out on the back for the touring shocks).

Well it turned out great Bry!
I bought a set of leather bags for my wifes V Star and used those easy brackets. They were a sob to do by myself, but by taking my time they came out nice. Sure makes bag removal a breeze. Damned brackets are heavy tho! LOL. I cut some metal stock into strips, drilled holes and added one on the inside and one on the outside to give the leather more stability, ran some ss stovebolts through them and the brackets and it came out fine.
Nothing works as ez as they claim, eh?

Hi -- the bags are Harley bags from a '08 Police Road King model. They weren't difficult to put on at all really. Watch this video -- it's essentially exactly what I did but I didn't have a second set of hands to help out.
