That's a good price considering I bought mine back in April of 06 from Cycle Spot for $514.25 delivered, unfortunately there no longer in business.

I think you need to check your prices. At $700 w/20% off, that pipe would be close to $900! It's hard to believe that the black pipe is that much more expensive than the chrome one. I could be wrong, I have been many times...

For example:

496-32BQ D&D 2-1, Chrome, Louvered Wrapped Baffle $561.00
What's the difference between the wrapped and louvered? One quieter than the other? I have been tossing those two pipes (Reinhart and D&D) around for a while. Based on this thread and my riding style, I'll probably go with the D&D. Be a while though, Christmas sucks...

yeah best price I had found. shipping was another 30 bucks though. and for some reason, they made an 05 and earlier model with o2 bungs.

You can get the packing material from local motorcycle shops that cater to the sport bikes, or on eBay. They also have different materials then just the fiberglass (ceramic based) that may last longer.

on the baffles situation, I honestly wonder if my baffles are the quiet version, they are not supposed to be however I really don't think the fatcat is loud at all, especially at idle. I have read so much about these pipes being loud, not in my opinion. I do love a deep sound, which is why I wondered about the baffle mod.

You should hear what a Fatcat sounds like with about 8" of the can chopped-off, with only a minimal perforated baffle installed. Unreal.

Looks awsome too.
