Default Fat Bob with exposed black springs?

I need to lower my shocks on my new Fat Bob. It has been suggested that I use exposed black springs instead of covered chrome.

Any opinions re uncovered vs. covered? Black vs. chrome?

I'm leaning to the covered chrome, but I'm having trouble visualizing the bike with black shocks -- covered or uncovered.

My buddy has exposed black springs on his FB and it looks cool. Really no different than the same setup on any Dyna.

Here are some progressives, they are available in several different lengths, these ar about 1/2" longer than stock on an FXDF...
