Default Battery Charger Hookup

I’ve seen some later model bikes that have factory charger wiring. Is that just the touring bikes or do our Dynas have it too?

Thinking about a charger……does that .75 amp Battery Tender do a good enough job or do I need something more powerful?

Mine was installed by the dealer. Probably cost them a few dollars for the Deltran wiring but it saved me the effort of doing so.

The Battery Tender will not bring a dead battery back up. It is a battery maintainer only and will keep the battery fully charged and cover the same draw that every vehicle has today. I have had one on my bike since 94 with zero problems. The unit comes with the vehicle connection and alligator clips and the charger.

They can be found for under $40 if you look around.

My 2008 FXD had a pigtail hookup already on it. If I recall correctly, the Battery Tender I purchased had a hookup included with it that I installed on my previous bike's battery.

I have three of them! Two bikes just have a trailing lead connected direct to the battery under the seat, on the other bike I have fitted an accessory socket, which I plug into.

The 'battery charging harness' is the best thing since sliced bread...

Back in the old days we use to remove the seat every time you wanted to hook up a tender or charger, and it got to be a PITN...

Most dealers install the 'harness' on all bikes they sell, but some charge an additional fee.

You can get them from Harley;

PN 99821-09 is 12.5" and has a cost of around $12

PN 99828-09 is 25.0" and has a cost of around $18

I have them on all my Harley's and use them year around (not just during the winter months) to keep the batteries in peak condition.

I've seen, in several locations, a reference to a Power Outlet being Standard on the 2008 Super Glide Custom....but I can't seem to locate it on mine. Any ideas?

I use the 2 flat connector for charging to run the GPS when on the bike. I also have a cigarette lighter plug with a 2 flat if i need to charge the phone. The tender gives you so many options.

Mine came with one installed. You might have one already, look at the battery and see if it's hooked up and just follow it from there. Mine is under the tank on the left side near the seat.

I think some dealers install them on all their new bikes. Mine did.
