Freaking Out Super Glide
#21
About a week after I bought my 02 FXD I had the same issue. Like everyone else the first thing I thought was battery. That is where you should start. In my case it turned out not to be the battery though. It was the starter relay. If that goes bad it will act just like a low battery. Still nothing to panic over. It only cost around $5 for the relay and about 5 minutes to change it. So, if it turns out your battery is good check the relay next.

i'm 21 and just wrapped up my first season on harleys, best feeling in the world.
dono where youre from but here in NY once it starts to get cold my bike's on the battery tender
after you replace yours, test it, make sure it was in fact the battery, get yourself a tender and leave it hooked up, especially in the cold.
nice to see another young rider

there may be better deals, but I think walmart has the tenders for like $19.96
I have no experience with one yet, but noticed them there.
congrats on your bike.
Enjoy and be safe............batteries ain't all we don't want dead.
Set your limits and keep them....finding your bikes limits is information you can live without.....literally.

If you want to test your battery yourself it's easy. If you have a volt meter put it on 12V and touch the connectors (red to red and black to black) and you should get like 11.6V to 12ish. Don't remember the tolerances but that should be a good test.
To test your charging system start your bike once you get the battery charged and the voltmeter should be reading over 14V. If it's not you may have a charging system problem. Then you need to get in a service manual and trouble shoot further.
Like everybody said start with the battery.
