Default in need of some advice

before you flame me i have searched for all of this but i cant find the answers to my specific questions. im going to look at a wide glide front end off a softail standard this weekend and i was wandering what years and model front ends would be compatable with my 2004 lowrider? also what are some things to look for when buying a front end to make sure everything is in good shape (seals etc..)? i apologize if this has been asked before and if there is a thread that has this information please point me in the right direction.

thanks!
Brandon

will bolt right up. With your neck rake, the rear of the stock bottom triple tree will contact the frame, so no need to worry about fork stop differences. I have a dyna 41mm wideglide on my 05. The sliders will be 2" longer than current 39mm fromt end. So you gotta lower it or look ridiculous with 2" over forks. Buy new dust covers and bearings just in case.

I've got stock FXDWG bottom tree & Nighttrain everything else on my front-end. Except for the trees, I'm pretty sure FXDWG & Night, & Train ST Std. are all the same part #s on the front end.

I wouldn't worry about lowering the front-end unless you want to. It will look fine. No different than any other WG styled bike owner having just lowered the back a little.

I am assuming the frame had not been changed yet on the '04s for all my statements.

With putting the ST trees on your bike the fork stops will be different as Rounder said & you will lose the function of your fork lock which is why I bought a FXDWG lower tree.
