I thought this was just a base line run, with no real tuning time?
It might be too early to panick, although the 7% leakdown after 600 miles would have me wondering a bit.

600 miles should be plenty of time for the rings to set. Hope you get it worked out soon man.

In my field (marine engines) 7% leakdown is very acceptable. Don't even raise an eyebrow untill it gets over 15%. Where is it leaking by? Crankcase? Intake or exhaust valve? Easy to determine with a stethoscope. Good luck.

So what happened? Since your going with a 106" s&s set-up, I'm guessing the 107" build was pretty messed up? I know you & I had talked about some of the problems you were having, and I'm just wondering what "they" had to say about the situation.

Seems a bit radical to scrap the whole thing, i'd like to hear what's been happening too.

Some advise getting tough on the break in to ensure a good ring seal. Hard acceleration, strong engine compression down shifts. Ck new engine break in on this forum for opinions.

Agreed... The "stay slow, dont lug" route wont do sh*t. 3rd gear, hard acceleration to 4g's, let off and cost back down. Reapeat 7 times (some say 10). d.o.n.e
