Most expensive Dyan is still 1K less than the cheapest Softail. Course that is 2010.

My '06 Super Glide base was $12,195. Four years later, $200 cheaper? Harley's might be the only merchandise that is cheaper than in '06!? I say merchandise 'cause my salary is the same as well!? WTF

I think milk was $2.00 and now it's $3.50 per gallon.......

The aftermarket chassis stabilizer is for the dyna. Dynas have rubber between the engine and frame, the rear wheel is bolted to the engine/transmission, the front wheel bolted to the frame. The rubber flexing can cause a loose feeling. The softail chassis is different. Search for True-Track, Sputhe, or positrac and you will find tons of reading.

I like Dyna's because they handle better, fit me better and are much faster than softails.

Simple answer - ride both and it will be evident which is the better handling , braking, accelerating of the two. Not to mention the price benefit of one over the other. I have just moved over from a 2007 Fatboy to a 2010 Fatbob and I can say hand on heart that the Dyna is by far the better motor cycle.

Hope my little rave helps.

I wanted a bike they don't make anymore (Duo-Glide/FLH) and didn't want to pony up for a nice pan or shovel for a daily rider, I'll wait to get one of those for a second toy. With that my options were a Road King but they look shitty with out bags, a Deluxe/Heritage, Sucker Punch Sally or get a Dyna and make one. The Softail line was out because the lack of shocks, the SPS came to my attention after I bought the Super Glide so it was out also. In the end I'm glad I went this way, the build was fun and rewarding.

i sold my fatboy and "upgraded" to an '08 Street Bob and it's like night and day. the ride, the fit, the handling, acceleration, the list goes on.

i'll admit, however, when i see bikes like anibuss (check out the pictures in his profile) it makes me long for my chromed out fatboy again.

i think once i get all my projects done this winter, my softail envy will be gone forever.

aloha,

I went in to buy either a Nightrain or Fatboy. I always wanted a fatboy or softail with long shotgun pipes on since I was a kid. I sat on the Nightrain and it wasn't comfortable. I sat on a Fatboy and that wasn't comfortable. I looked at a street glide also, but in the past the wife said I'm not old enough for that (I said ok because I figured that would be my hidin plot for bike number two). Sat on my Dyna and it was comfortable and felt good. Learning on a 90 FXR I was confident in the model. Now I feel it's the best decision I made and would never go back.

For me initially, it was the Dyna 'entre' into the Big Twin at the low end cost-wise ....

I ended up shortly after buying it--not really with buyer's remorse--but, with the feeling that I couldn't have really bought what it was I was looking for anyway ... still feel the same ....

Like ackman1968, I decided to take matters into my own hands and craft my own late-model 'Duo-Glide' ... I've also learned a lot and had a lot of fun doing it ....

... Ya just can't get that from the factory these days ... what up MoCo ...?

SURFOR Chop, why don't you spec out your mods- fairing, bags, front fender etc. Man, that's perfection! Job well done!
