Has anyone gone wide on their Dyna. I have a 96 FXDL and am looking into going to a 200 rear end. It cost big bicks and was wondering if it is really worth it.

Thanks

Mike

Depends on what you mean by worth it. The wider tire looks better to some folks. But it's heavier, and doesn't improve traction or stability.

Hmmm.. how could an increase in contact area not result in improved traction?

Maybe he means straight-line traction, where you are riding on the center of the tire, not cornering where you are contacting the sidewall...I'd say you may see a benefit there.

I bought a 2006 Dyna and got a bigger tire with it...I'm sure it would be cheaper for you to do the conversion on the bike you already have!

A 200mm would look pretty sweet IMO.

The wider your tire the more likely you are too hydroplane.Thinner tires cut thru the water easier. That would be the only negative thing i could see. Im gonna upgrade from 160 mm to 180mm when its time for a tire change. Think you can do that for less than 300 bucks.
