loving this man! i am going to start mine in Feb, once i get a few other projects wrapped up... great work bud! great work...
I'm still in the plug making stage of doing mine. Joe, three questions, why use the fleece, how thick did you make your pan, and how many layers of what weight glass did you use?

I use fleece cause it will pull super tight and can give you the exact shape you are looking for. I use whatever glass they sell at the local auto parts store, i am not going to make mine very thick at all, there is no reason for it to be, prob just use the fleece, and 2 or 3 light layers of glass, then the milkshake mix to smooth it all out when done. the trick is in the bondo! use good bondo not junk, i like dyna gold, works awesome

Joe, my ultimate goal is to vacuum infuse it. Mainly for cleanliness, but also to alow me a dry lay-up of all layers and a better resin to reinforcement ratio. That will also give me a stronger finised piece. I plan on using a surfacing veil to reduce print through, a laminate bulker as a core, and then a middle weight fabric for the inner most layer. I am also giong to use vinyl-ester resin possibly tinted black so I "might" be able to skip paint. This is also going to be done on the patio of my apartment and kitchen table. I'm single so I don't have to worry about the ol' lady yelling at me for working on the table!

Default New Pic

Got the upper half of the inner glassed and trimmed so I could bolt it to the outer and tried it for fit on the bike... pain in the A5$ trying to get it to sit right with bungee cords and the clutch cable in the way! sorry for the crap cell phone pics..

Now that I know my clearances I can continue with the lower half. Then smooth everything out for paint and Stereo!!!!
