Default Don't waste your money on Progressive 412's

You are doing yourself a disservice by not spending a little extra for the 440 I.A.S series. Night and day difference. Takes the harsh ride right out. Even the wife was impressed. No more jolts. The 412's were a little improvement over the stock shocks, but I just went on a 400 mile trip over all kinds of roads with the 440's and all I have to say is - WOW!!!

I ride a 09 Street Bob and weigh around 200lbs and went with the heavy duty and set them to low.

Wasted my money on them and enjoy them. As with most things, spend a little more, get a little more. But 412's are definitely an improvement over stock. I wasn't even looking for a better ride, just wanted to lower the rear a little without hurting the ride. Some 12" 412 HD's and I got a lower rear end and a markedly better ride and handling as well.

Can't say about the dyna but I put the 440's IAS, 11" on a XL 1200L and it rode like a hardtail. Tried every adjustment and they were either stiff or bottoming out. (200 lb rider)

+1That's exactly why I bought my 11" 412's and they work fine for me.

+2. I guess I like wasting money. Anyway, they're more comfortable than the struts I had on before...and I actually liked the struts (wife didn't). In fact, I miss my old hardtail.... To each his own.

hehehe, well....I wasted my money on them too and it was the best mistake I have made so far! I actually didn't give a FF if the ride improved, I just wanted my bike lower.....but I got an improved ride too so bonus for me. Great waste.

I don't like the short 412's, but the standard length 412's are WAY less than 1/2 the price of the 440's. Thats not a bad bang for the buck. I'm gonna give 440's a try soon enough, but I wouldn't discourage people from buying the stock length 412's. The 12 inch air shocks I bought off ebay rode better than any shock I've ever put on a dyna. They just couldn't take the weight.

I've never regretted my 412's for a moment. Great ride and I've never bottomed out...

IMHO if your gonna spend on the 440's your wasting your money! Hands down the works performance and Ohlin's options are 1000% better than the 440. For about the same money. The only way one can give praise on progressive, is because they have no idea what they are really missing by riding on Ohlins or works.
