I notice you don't say what length of 412's or whether they had the HD springs on them. If you are comparing standard duty springs on 412's vs heavy duty on 440's and talking about your 200 lbs there would definitely be a difference in ride.

I put FL bagger airshocks on my Dyna, they look ghetto, but damn do they ride nice with 10-12 psi. of air in them!

Twice the price is more than "a little extra".

Sorry, but I am gonna waste that money and get the 412's. For the money my local discount dealer gets 'em for, i'd be dumb not to...

Funny how these threads come up trashing the 412's and there are always more responses in support of them than against them. I paid well less than $200 shipped for mine and if there is a better ride for the money out there, I'm still not interested.

Default 412

Just put the 412's(DH 12")on and the front springs too! They lowered the rear the ride is good,I weight 235 the ride would be better if I fatten up a bit more, but the front end is still too mushy! They tell you to use the stock Oil,I did,I should have at least blended it with the heaver stuff.

I didn't know about the Works or Ohlin's. I was just about ready to give up on the bike with the 412's. They were definitely better than the stockers, but I still chipped a tooth every time I hit a bump - perhaps the new frame on the 09's have something to do with that? Pleased as punch with the 440's though.

Also wasted my $$$$ on the 412 HD, the 1300 mile ride this past summer was just great, and that was two up all the way.

I don't know what you are running but I have run both the 440s and the 412s. The 412s are great shocks for the money. I ran the 440s for years and had to have them rebuilt after blowing the seals. The 412s have been great with zero problems. I even think the 412s ride better.
BTW I run the 12.5" with heavy springs.
