Also, where do the wires run? Just up the inside of the boot ...? ...and what, up inside your pants legs?

I'm tempted on the glove liners. Seems simple and hands do get cold. But everything else seems like a lot of cumbersome trouble.
I just used my newly bought gloves and insoles for the first time Friday. I pulled
the factory insoles out of the boots and replaced them with the Gerbing ones.
The wires come from the inside of your arch and easily run up the sides. My
boots come up to mid-calf and there was still 6 inches or so of wire so don't
worry about that.

I'm six foot with a 31 inseam and ran the wires down inside my pants legs
(carefully avoiding the vital bits just in case... ) and still had a lot of excess
that I had to tie up with a wire tie. I have long arms and ran the glove wires
out the sleeves between undershirt and shirt. I left about one foot or so of
both controller connecting wires running out just above my belt buckle with the
loose ends tucked in the shirt. That sounds uncomfortable, but I hardly noticed.

My riding jacket is long enough that clipping the controller to my belt was not
going to work so when walking around, I clipped it to my chaps and when on the
bike I unclipped it and laid it on the tip of the seat just behind the tank.

A number of people have talked about having the gloves and insoles get so
hot that they had to turn the thermostats down; riding with a windshield
and
no hand protection and temps in the upper 40s, I just left both gloves and boots
full on and stayed completely comfortable. When stopped for a minute or so, I
could feel more heat coming into both so it was obvious that the wind chill
was
definitely sucking some heat out of them.

My hands and feet get very cold very easily so the Gerbings are going to be
very helpful in allowing me to ride longer into cold weather, but I think once
you hit temps below freezing, they'll start falling behind unless you have a full
fairing. I might also consider gaiters for your boots as an extra layer of insulation.

I like 'em a lot, the gloves are very comfortable, but they aren't the total solution.

Thanks for the responses, guys, very helpful. I'm not so sure about this insole thing. If it's that cold, I'm wearing my Chippewa Rally boots and leather socks with sock liners. Among other things, the boots come almost up to the knee. Seems like the wires would be a PITA. The glove liners with the small (4 amp) battery do look like a workable and simple setup, and my hands usually suffer much more than my feet for some reason. Really good gauntlet gloves are more expensive than the Gerbring glover liner rig and some nice regular gloves...and a whole lot less cumbersome. I will give that a shot.

Thanks again,

Mark
