Default What a beautiful place!-

I gotta give it up for those folks in Northern Arkansas, you sure have a beautiful part of the country you live in. We just returned from a week vacation on the Buffalo National River outside of Jasper, Arkansas and I am already looking to make some riding plans for that area.(Lot's of scooters down there) This vacation was all about fishing, floating, hiking, and letting the dog swim. It won't be long before I round up the troops for a trip. For those that have not been to this area, you should take a look. I posted just a couple of pic's. The landscape pic's are from the deck on the cabin.

Yeah I love riding up in Arkansas,.... I havent had a chance to ride up in that Northern area yet but after seeing your pics its on my list now. I recently rode up to the mountains in the Western Central part of the state and it was also nice.

jmbear,
Great pic's. What town was that close too? I am trying to put together an Arkansas ride for the buddies and deciding where to go. Thanks for the reply.

Its close to Mena, Ar. There is a really senic road that runs along the ridge of the mountain from Mena to Talimena, Ok. It's appx 45 miles or so. And there is a nice lodge at the top that has rooms and pretty good food as well.

Hi Jdog,
Went to Jasper 2 years ago and stayed in a house on the banks of the Buffalo river. What a marvelous place! Went hiking by myself ( stupid me ) on Round Mountain and got lost. That was a little scary, but managed to crawl my way out. Did you visit the Glory Hole? Actually saw a black bear in them woods. Arkansas is definately a beautiful state.

Hog Fever,
Did not visit glory hole, however we did do a little hiking around. We went to Steel Creek, Lost Valley, Indian Creek, Kyle's Landing, Piercetown. We are not highly trained professional hiker's so we had to set some limits if you know what I mean. I am looking to make another trip in the spring to float the upper Buffalo out of Ponca. The spring is really the only time you can float the upper part. I want to see Hemmed In Hollow which is the tallest waterfall between the Rockies and the Appalachians at 202 ft.
I am glad to hear that you made it out even if you had to crawl.
