Default 2000 recall on superglides for barrings....is it too late

Someone in a previous thread had mentioned to me that there was a recall on my 2000 superglide regarding i thing crank barrings ......Ive never owned anything that had any recall issues...would it be too late to have this taken care of by the dealership.....do they have some database of who's bike they have repaired due to the recall....I would like some info before i call the dealer and get blown off.

The outer cam bearings had a 5 year/50,000 mile recall on those bearings. What you could do is convert to the new cam support plate with the upgraded cam tension shoes or drop in a set of mild cams and replace inner and outer bearings at the same time. Still bucks out of your pocket.

My brother-in-law just had this done over the summer and it wasn't covered by the recall, only 18k miles on the bike a 2000 Ultra Classic. The reason was the previous owner had the 95" BB kit installed which voids the warranty.

So he paid for it out of pocket, no clue how much it cost.

I have a 2000 FXDL and remember reading about the recall. By the time they issued the recall I had already done motor work and changed the bearings.

If your motor is basically stock, I would think you may still be covered by the recall. (The recall was largely to protect Harley from litigation). If I was in your position I would check with Harley.
