Ok, first.... the word is 'by'. 'Bye' is what you say to someone when you hang up the phone.

Second, heat would cause the metal to expand, not contract.

make sure you have them slipped all the way on then re-tighten your clamps... they shouldnt leak at the joint

make sure the clamp is not inserted too far onto the slipon. It won't clamp down properly on the headers. Noticed that on my rush slipons.

Really Vic, 'bye' is the only grammatical error you found to pick on?

I've found it best to just throw out all of the rules of proper English when reading posts on this forum!

As for KOJAX' question - SFG has a great point. The clamps won't make a good seal if you don't have the muffler pushed far enough up the head pipe. If you still can't get a good seal, you can use a high-temp (copper) RTV compound to get a good seal.

Spelling??? We don't need any damn 'Spelling Police'.....

And, as a Wise Man once said;

"It's a damn poor mind that can only think of one way to spell a word."

Make sure the clamp is positioned correctly on the muffler. The hard piece shouldn't be over a gap in the end. Then tighten down, back off 1/4 turn and retighten. do this a few time's. It will pull everything together properly. All the other post are correct make sure they are all the way up on the head pipe and the clamps aren't to far down (are not far enough) on the mufflers. You might have to try tightening a few times to get the perfect fit. Good luck.
