Default Has anyone done this?

I was lookimg to make my lowrider ride better. I am going to progressive 440 shocks with HD springs. I ride double most of the time. The bike bottoms out easy even with the springs all the way up. My stock shock length is 12". I was thinking of 13" shocks with a 1" lowering block, so I would have more travel. Has anyone done this? Hows it ride? Does the bike stay the same height?

It bottoms out easy with 12" shocks... hummmmm... doesn't 13"-1"=12"?

Hate to ask, but how much weight are you hauling that causes bottoning out with stock shocks?
You could try WG shocks, 12 5/8" in an HD spring. I ride 2 up a great deal and only on the second setting, never had any issues. Combined we weigh around 350 with gear.

I'm 180 she's 120 and yes it bottoms out on the big stuff. Like dips in the road. My buddy's super glide does not bottom out even with his wife on it, but I don't want to go that high. I was just thinking with 13" shocks and 1" lowering blocks, it may ride nice. I know 13-1=12. Lowering blocks don't always give you a full inch. I guess you know everything (Professor).

Yea... it ain't about the math... it's about WHAT is 'bottoming out'. I imagine that it’s the shocks, and sure… 13” er’s on lowering blocks will give more suspension travel, but then, I can only guess (cause I ain't no professor) that the top of the tire will ‘bottom out’ on the under side of the fender.

OK progressive suspension sux's... For around the same money works performance will build a better riding shock built for you... your weigh and riding style. If you ride 2up mostly they will set it up to perform best under those conditions. You do not need a taller shock to get the ride you want.... you need one designed for you... I have Ohlin's designed for me..... 1000% better than stock or my previous progressives I had... I have a 12.1" shock(lowrider height).... also the superglide has a 12.6" shock... 13" is taller than superglide height. A chrome Ohlin will be significantly more than a 440 or works though. Do I bottom out solo or two up... nope... and the ride is spectacular with much improved cornering as well.

BTw do you adjust the preload for 2up... Could be that if you don't this may be all you need.... 10 buck tool at dealer. When running 2up around the same weight as you, I would need to adjust the shocks an additional 2 clicks firmer than solo....If it works there you go. Judging from your sig pic, your shocks are at their softest setting.
