Not to take away from your bike, but I've had a hard on for one of those xl1200r sportster's in orange for a while. Wouldn't mind a second project bike to rip around on. Probably way faster than any Dyna once it's built.

Are you scraping pegs/pipes through corners at all? I have the stock 12.5" on my FXDB right now and I scrape pipes and pegs through corners. So I'm hoping 13" would clear this up. But I can get a really good deal on Works 12.6" right now so I'm debating that as well.

My boss has one he bored out, cams, 2 into 1, tuned, thing rips. He's 68 and doesn't ride it much, waiting for the day he asks if I want to buy it

You and me both! I've had my eye on a few, but they are hard to find for a decent price. The new Roadster is fairly similar so hopefully there will be a few more used options down the road. I don't want to pay too much for an 'every once in a while' bike, but I've drooled over the xl1200r a good bit.

I can't help much. but I know with 13.5s, I'm not even close to dragging anything. It's a nice feeling to be able lean it over as far as I want without any fireworks.

FWIW, the one pictured is an 883 (2002-2003) from the factory. The 1200 didn't have that paint scheme.

Thanks. Researching rear shocks these days can drive a guy crazy with all the options out there. If you're on a budget, the 12.6" 412 will definitely smooth out the ride compared to stock 12" Street Bob shocks. I did want to go up to 13" but you can't get that height in a 412 for a Dyna. Don't kid yourself into thinking there's any real high performance gain here with these shocks - this is just a cheaper way to get some extra height in the rear.

Thanks. To be honest, I'm not a fan of the denim red so I'm hoping to get it painted in the near future.

Seriously, you guys, go at least 13.5" rear and 2" over front forks. I've dragged nearly everything: rear of ProPipe, front of Royal T, the left peg like crazy and the primary and after I put on the taller rear and front, I've only scraped the right peg once and it felt like I was leaning WAY over.

Also, pretty sure stock FXDB shocks are 12.5". But I was wrong one time before...

Me three!
The new roadster, the old roadster, that 883R paint job is classic (I even like the seat!)
In fact, the XR1200X is one of the few bikes I'd consider trading my DX for.
With all the goodies already stock, it seems like the perfect club style platform.
My buddy's got one and I'm hoping to see if its all that.

I guess Micheal Douglas' XLH affected me more than I thought...
