I haven't had a problem with mine since 2010 and thousands of cross country miles in all temperatures.

Could be too much torque on the bolt.

Yeah mines totally fine after a couple years and thousands of miles. I use a zip tie instead of a lower bolt though

Question

Here is my 2003 FXD. Will I have any problems mounting a Ness fairing. Will any modification need to be done or will this be a direct bolt on for me.

could be but I bareley had it snugg with one of those rubber insulated washers on both sides. I dont know about anyone elses but mine is supper thin and flimsy as hell. there is just not enough thickness imo to keep it from cracking there. and I would never zip tie a fairing on. no offense to those that have but I like to have somewhat of a professional look when mounting things on my bike
