So, I have this to say to anyone reading here that is going back and forth about whether or not to put a quarter fairing on:

DO IT!

I have about 100 miles now with my Gauntlet, and it makes the bike so much easier/more fun to ride. I'm a big dude, so my chest was catching wind like a barn door; now, I'm not actually hanging on to the bars for dear life anymore above 60 mph.

I agree. The gauntlet is on my bike too.
In the last 4 months I went from an unfaired bike with stock suspension and. 16" apehangers.
Between the fairing, front and back suspension upgrades, and the MX bars, I finally feel like the bike is living up to its potential.

Absolutely! When I put my front end back together I went for a 50 mile test ride, without the fairing just in case I had to pull it back apart, and even in that short period missed my fairing

Performance has not been put aside for appearance
High, narrow bars for comfort and ease of lane splitting (no "law" that says they must be tbars)
Mid controls, or forward controls with mid pegs, for handling

The bikes were built to be skinny, lean, fast, handle shitty city streets, but still have the chops to roll long runs on the highway. I think the 1/4 fairing has become a staple, but the rest is really a matter of interpretation in my opinion as long as the soul of the style is still achieved. Tbars, well, they are a wonderful mix of apes and drag bars, are typically very narrow for lane splitting, and just handle awesomely which is probably why you see them on this type of bike so much. They are kings of utilitarian bars and these bikes are built to be utilitarian bikes so they go hand in hand.
These two posts are all anyone who makes BS comments about SOA or "ThugZ", or people who say "your bikes all look like" (as if all chrome ****** don't look alike...) - anyway -
these two posts sum it all up as to WHY my bike is done in the style it is.
I hate to even call it a "style".
It's the way it should be.
Thanks for having the ability to put into words the way I (and apparently many others) feel.

Cheers.

Anyone know if the Gauntlet will fit with the same mounting kit as the other windshields from Memphis Shades? I can't say it's my favorite look but if it's truly that great for wind, well, function over form, right?

This answers my question:
https://www.denniskirk.com/memphis-s...prd/274169.sku

Not a bad price.

Don't forget that you need clamps too, but it sounds like you may already have them.

I hear you. I don't think I'm going to go with MX bars (with my 12" Z bars, the bike is still nimbler than I am), but I'm also stoked about/for the suspension upgrades. I put JRIs on the back and added a Tru-Track; first ride out all I could think was how much more noticeable the issues with the front were. So glad I found the Traxxion/Intiminator thread. I have all those parts now, and can't wait to put them on.
