The ride is ENTIRELY different. Although the bars are only about 4" lower, the are back about 4" too. The control is rigid and precise; making it a lot easier to speed through twisties.
.....
My fairing should be ready any day now, and my Powder-Pro hand guards should arrive soon.

+1 on the precision on the control switching from apes to a rigid setup.
Interested to see it with the fairing, although I think it looks cool without.

Anyway, the only advice I have for swapping to MX bars is to make sure the holes for the wires are big enough. I had Jim from Forbidden drill for wiring, but I spent a good deal of time with a Dremel making the holes big enough. Even then, they are a tight fit at the 7/8" part of the bars by the grips.
I did a stupid thing putting my grips on too. I sprayed adhesive into the throttle grip and slipped it over the throttle tube. Half way through my test ride, my throttle got REAL tight. I didn't realize the throttle tube had a small hole at the outer end. Sone adhesive got under the tube and gummed it up. It cleaned up with disassembly and a coat of graphite. Lesson learned. Install the grip to the tube and let it dry before installing the throttle.

I need a seat recommendation from some of you guys. I need a 2up seat that is similar styled as the stock fxdx seat. Something that tapers down in the passenger section but has a deeper rider bucket area. I have several harleHarley seats now and mostly use the stock fxdx seat. The rider bucket area isn't deep enough and I slide back to much when I get on it.
