I get that too...having said "day trips" are my usual ride, I am planning a camping trip from my home in Southern Calif to North Nevada / South Utah...spoiler alert I will trailer the FatBob , set up camp at Valley of Fire in Nevada , then ride Highway 15 up into Utah.
Some will say trailering is cheating.

Im a little late to the party on this thread but here is my 2000 Concord Purple FXDX, and my 2017 FXDLS that I just finished recently. The other pics are of my buddies bikes, a custom blue FXDB and a killer custom red 2000 FXDL thats been raked to FXDX specs. These things may look pretty, but they get used and abused!!

I traded my RG in because it just felt like a whale and its just too much bike for around town. My eventual plans involve a FXRD fairing. I was doing the club thing for a while, and now that I left, I'm not riding to anyone else's mercy, I can ride how/when/where I want. I just wanted something a little smaller. I have a 04 FXD and I can ride for days on that the way I have it set up, but that's getting redone so my other half can ride it when she gets her endorsement.

Picture from before the winter, started as a 2012 wide glide. Lowers and bags are being added and they're at paint right now, also added an ohlins steering damper and its getting an inverted front end this week, modified from an xr1200.

Very sharp sickles, and I love that we'll start seeing the FXDLS with custom paint jobs now.
