Aside from having your speedo and tach mounted to the stock bars what's the point in moving your speedo to the handlebars? Do that many of us actually check your speed/really follow the posted speed limit to need to have it right there in front of you? I've got an older Low Rider and everything is on the tank and I don't shift by RPM on the tach I go by the sound and the feel. as far as the speedo goes I'll glance down every now and then but I don't feel like its something that directly needs to me in my line of sight. I'm only asking cause I see a lot of people moving the speedo on their Street Bobs and then are stuck with a hole in the dash or a plate to cover it up until someone finally makes a dash panel with no opening for the speedo.

 

I plan on doing it at some point. I think that's most of the reason we don't check how fast we are going - because we have to look down at the tank. I generally go by feel but it would be nice to know that my feeling is right when I blow by the CHP bike cop on the side of the freeway...

That, and it looks cool, IMO, which is half the reason anyone does anything.

 

I think that's biggest reason for most people that do it and that is surely subjective

 

I'd like to see it better, I I also like the look. I'm heavy handed so I'm always speeding so it might keep me in check.

 

I was just wondering was all I've thought about getting the dual gauge and moving my stuff from the tank and then welding a panel over the opening in the tank where the dash and gauges would go on my Low Rider but I really don't like when stuff is above the fairings on bikes. I think most of it comes from seeing baggers with way too tall of ape hangers miles above the lip of the fairing.

 

You could mount them below the "top" (but maybe close to the top) on your side of the bars

 

I think if I do anything I may take my warning light strip out of my headlight brow and buy a used gauge mount and trim off the gauge pods and just mount my warning lights to my top clamp. With the handlebar bag I've got it kinda blocks the view of the lights and I'd maybe light to know if my oil pressure drops and turns the light on so I can pull over and shut it down.

 

I never really check my speed. I'd like the tach to be mounted up on my bars tho. I don't really care how it looks.
