Yes, I have read nothing but good about these bars and have been back and forth between 12" or 14". Im just looking forward to riding without the numbness

So I'm a bit curious as to this whole "club style" description for these bikes. Is it based solely on the whole SOA look? Are there actually "club" members who ride this style bike in other parts of the country? I ask because up here in the PNW I have yet to see an actual club member riding one. The majority of club members I see (we are primarily a "red and yellow" state) are riding either baggers or softtails, with the occasional Dyna (with apes, not t-bars and fairings).

 

Hmmm. Hope your question doesn't ignite another round of "club/thug/outlaw style" opinions (either for or against). While there is an actual functional aspect to fairings and T-bars, I think most people would agree that Hollywood played a part in popularizing that "look". Neither good or bad - to each their own.

During a recent trip to SoCal, I did see a lot of Dynas with fairings, T-bars, 2 into 1 pipes, and two-up seats. And most of them were black.

The riders were typically younger, and most likely at one time into skateboards and surfing. Not the stereotype that people have when talking about Harley's in general. The culture is changing, or at least evolving with the younger set taking an interest in these bikes. As with most things, change is inevitable. And usually positive.

But I will say that even though I have an HD fairing, T-bars and 2 into 1 exhaust, I don't think of my bike as club/thug/outlaw. But I definitely won't ride in shorts and wear Vans. There's still part of me that's old school..

 

There is definitely a Hollywood aspect to the look being popularized, but when I was in high school and started itching for a bike the hells Angel next door had a dyna with t bars, thinner header, hand guards, and a louvered ness fairing. And I highly doubt he had it that way because he was a fan of sons of anarchy.

 

I didn't even know that was the "style" I was creating. I certainly don't want to be lumped in with that group. I saw some pictures online of the HD 1/4 fairing, and the drag bars, and fell in lust.

I am not a fan of the Tbars. Just a Dyna with a small fairing, loud exhaust, and some drag bars, please. I had no idea the haters were out in force, like they are around this site. I can't fault them for an opinion, as I feel the same way about Wideglides, fishtail exhaust, and ape hangers. I just don't lash out at them like they do at the boys that have a 1/4 fairing.

 

Short answer: yes. Lots of California clubs are running this set up.

 

Fast, narrow, good handling bikes that allow you to cut through the congested CA traffic. Can't do that with a touring model.

Many are painted black to deny witnesses an accurate eye witness report, "he was on a black bike."

 

West Coast Club style. Or what HD had as stock T-Sport out of the gate +performance mods. It's ridiculous how much $$ and effort need to spend now just to replicate it on newer bikes.
