Appreciate all the answers..........I'll probably wait until my warranty is up before I decide to scoot home w/o my clutch though.

upshifting is pretty easy but I have always been to chicken to try downshifting.

What Derv said. Electric shifters on race bikes work on that principle, WOT, a solenoid (or the rider) puts some pressure on the upshift linkage, the shifter module sees the set shifting RMP, cuts the spark for a couple revolutions relieving the stress on the gears, tranny shifts to next gear, full throttle on... easy to do on the upshifts. Different story on down shifts.

I'll be calling roadside service. Transmission are not cheap.
