Clutch cable help!!!
I purchased a new chrome clutch assembly and need to get about a 1/4 inch of feed in the clutch cable to slip the factory housing off. I am sure this is simple to experienced riders but your help would be much appreciated. I don't want to go pay harley 100 bucks to turn a bolt that I dont know about. Thanks.

RE: Clutch cable help!!!
Coff-do you have a service manual? Money well spent. Go to your clutch cable adjuster and turn it so the clutch cable(housing) shortens. And now you will be able to remove it from the clutch lever assembly. When you put it back together, adjust the cable (looking at were the clutch cable housing inserts into the clutch lever assembly) so when you pull the housing away from the clutch lever assembly, you have about the thickness of a dime. Tighten the jam nuts on the cable adjuster and your good to go. Hope this makes sense.

RE: Clutch cable help!!!
If you want to take the cable off the clutch lever, go down the cable about half way,you will see a boot. More the boot up or down till you see a nut. You will need a 1/2" and 9/16" wrench to loosen the nut, turn the hex that the nut jammed this will loosen the cable.
