Question Wide to Bob & back again ...

1st time poster here.
I've been following threads for a few months now.
Looking to buy a Dyna for the first time. This will be my 1st bike.
MSF passed. M1 Licensed.

Problem I have is that I love the new look of the 2010 Wide Glide, but I like the denim black paint on the Street Bob.

Anyhow, I found a deal on a 2008 Bob - $10k
I was planning on a $16k price of a WG.

Questions:
Any riders out there that have been on a Bob for years but have since switched to the WG?
What were you reasons for switching and what have you learned between the two bikes?

I vote for the Bob. I like the looks of the Wide glide, almost bought one before I bought my Bob (2008) but for value, ridability, ability to make it part cruiser when you need it, you just can't go wrong with the Bob, The Denim finish hides scratches a lot easier than the gloss paint jobs do. Had a Sporty before the Bob and its head and shoulders above the Sporty, especially for two up and long rides.

Never rode a wide glide, but I have an 08 bob I bought brand new last year and I love it. I think the big difference is the bigger thinner front wheel, so what I've heard anyways. I heard they grab the grooves more then the wider tire, again that's what I heard! You can always get the bob and the 6k you save, put it towards a WG front end.

I bought my FXD new for just under $12K and now have just under $16K in it ... I changed my original 'narrow glide' front end for a 'wide glide' front end (the Fat Boy, Softail type) and a bunch of other stuff ....

Although the Wide Glide is cool (I'm in the "likes the '10 Wide Glide camp) ... I tend to agree that the Street Bob is more versatile ... and you can spend part of the 'savings' on a big bore kit, cam, pipes, Goodson A/c etc.

Either way, you're gonna love it!

Love my "old" Wide, not a fan of the new style. That sounds like a great deal on the Bob.

Test drove both at the dealer. The Street Bob handled better, IMO. Was more nimble.

Suspension felt about the same on both. I did like the forwards on the Wide Glide better, but I put highway pegs on the Bob and have been fine with it so far.

Get the bob! Then put 6k in mods into the bob!

Not sure of the rake on the model years you looked at, but traditionally the WG had a longer rake. The SB with less rake would feel more nimble.

Lookin at the specs it looks like it is what it used to be, 3 degrees more on the Wide Glide. Personally I like the look of the older Wide Glides better but I prefer less rake. You can take the bob for 6k less and convert the front to a Wide Glide for under a grand. You would probably split the difference in rake (WG trees have 2 degrees built into them I think) and have 5k left to play with.
