Default Tank Badge removal

I want to remove the tank badge from my 06 Black Cherry Street Bob, but I don't want to damage the paint. Has anyone done it? and if so how?

I peeled mine off yesterday while it was sitting in the hot sun. Be careful, the edges are sharp.

Just pull from one end. The tape started to come with it when I pulled on the emblem so I pulled it by the tape. It all came off in one piece. If all the tape doesn't come off use GooGone to remove it. It is safe for the paint. I used it to take off the tape from my refectors on the rear fender. The emblems bend real easy, so don't plan on putting them back on.

Take a length of mono fishing line, tie a loop at both ends for handles, and just start working it back and forth as your pulling across behind emblem. Charcol fluid will take off residual stickum, but wax afterwards, it won't hurt paint, but will strip the wax

ditto on goo gone. Squirt it in the cracks before you even start and let it soak in for a while, it will soften it up for you.

Are you going to replace the stock emblems with another emblem?

fishing line works...also dental floss...the glide stuff is great...very smooth. Use a hair dryer if it's cold....and after the emblem is removed, I agree..the goo gone stuff is great and won't harm your paint.

Why do you want to remove the tank badge? I thought about doing the same, do you think it looks better?

Just start from one end and peel it off. Put some tape under the other end to keep it from scratching the paint when that end comes off. Be careful, the badges are stamped sheet aluminum and pretty sharp. 3M Adhesive Remover also works well to get any residual adhesive off the paint. IMO, fishing line or dental floss is an unnecessary hassle when the adhesive is still fairly new, i.e. soft and pliable.

my reasons:

1-its a cheap-looking piece 'o crap
2-when i wipe off the tank the damn cloth always gets snagged on it
3-every time i see CraigC's sig pic i get jealous
4-its more 'bob' without it
