Top Cruise RPM

No, didn't make it. We're trying to finish the wiring in the barn and get water out there before winter. Have to work Monday or I would bundle up and bomb up your way.

It's all relative.
Any rpm "hurts" your bike. If the crank is turning and the pistons are going up and down, then the engine is wearing out. The more rpm, the more wear. The newer (and less worn) the engine, the more rpm it can take.
The only immediate danger to the engine is if you are over the redline. Which is, what, 6000rpm on Twin Cams?

What he said is correct for engine not under load. If you meant under load, why don't you go ride your bike in top gear and get the data? It would be helpful to know somebody was trying to learn something by doing.

learn by doing it myself? you must be crazy...

I keep trying to crank on the throttle all the way, but I'm too chicken thinking the motor will blow up. I still have not had the ***** to open up the throttle fully and just keep it pinned there... tonight I did twist the throttle past my comfort point and was awarded with a feeling of extra boost. I have no idea what RPM I was at...
