I had a 2005 Super glide and now I have a 2008 Fatboy... I must say, I think my fatboy has a much smoother ride than my Dyna did...

I think the Softails ride a little smoother. However I think the Dynas handle and perform better than the Softails. Therefore I will stick with my Dyna. I will sacrifice alittle comfort for performance anytime.

HAHAHA! I think that went over their heads... Does the M1 connect London to Birmingham? Because whatever that stretch of pavement is, it's very smooth indeed...

of course, you can go ride them at the dealer and see for yourself. (somebody had to say it ...)

Personally, and this is only speaking of suspension, NOT handling or performance....I think the softails are a little cushier.

Haven't ridden the touring bikes so can't comment, but can only think they are as good or better.

I think with the proper set up, (and adjustment)... shocks/tires/seat/bars/pegs, etc... you can be happy and comfy with about any bike you want.

Even that bike that vibrates like hell... gets WAY smoother with a lil hottie on the back enjoyin it

Let the Goddess Juice flow my brothas........let it flow.

If smoothness is your major concern, perhaps a Goldwing would be best.
I have been on most HD models and never gave any thought to smoothness, because it is not a concern for me. Handling and performance are what get me going, that and American made iron customized the way I want it.

I own a not quite stock 2002 WG. I test road a 2009 Softail Custom. The Softail road and sounded like a caddy compared to my WG. I didn't like it. Test ride them both - see which you like.

Riding a Softail is like riding a sewing machine. Dynas have character and I love the shake at the stop lights
