Default Uh OH What did I do?

I was cruising around town and came to my favorite stretch of road where I like to open it up. I have been progressivly getting faster. First time 85 Last time 90 This time I had it up to 95 and it still had plenty of throttle and it was not winding out or anything, and then I realized something, I was only in fourth gear on my five speed. Oh chit, what did I do to the motor winding out fourth gear to 95? Do you think i screwed anything up? After I backed off and then put it in fifth everything was fine, It seemed to run better the next time I went up through the gears. So do you thing I screwed anything up? Jesus just imagine if I had hit fifth at 95 I would have took off. Now I know the bike can go well over a hundred in fifth, but I'm not sure the rider is ready yet. Inching my way there 5 mph at a time. But for sure I will make sure I am in 5th the next time I crank it up. Please tell me it can handle 95 in fourth -- no problem If not, what signs of damage should I be looking for? As always, thanks for your help

Rev Limiter would have kicked and if it would have been a problem.. Be careful, that'd be one hell of a speeding ticket. **** I always get caught going 10 or so over on the interstate....pisses me off wish they could live and let be. I've only ever got ticketed on my bike never in the car. Who am I going to hurt speeding on a bike, but myself right? All about the money for the state.

If you did damage, you'd probably know about it pretty quick.

I had my Bob out taking my wife for her first ride on it. We rode to the nearest country bar where bikers hang out a lot. No bikers there then, so we didn't even stop in. When we left, I got a little ways up the road & decided to open it up to show the wife it's power. When I hit 80 I backed out of it & realized I hadn't gotten all the way thru the gears. I was only in fourth......wonder what it'll do in sixth?

Holy $hit dude...I was doing 80 in 5th gear and I thought is was winding out a little. I don't even want to think about 95 in 4th. But, is nice to know it can handle that.

Yep, you'll hit the rev limiter and go no further. That is what it is for.

Headwolf- I am sorry to disagree, and very sorry to inform you that you have severly damaged your tranny. Now since your ride is now considered a boat ancor (spelling ?), I'd like to start the bidding at $100.

I have bounced mine off the limiter a few times.

With no tach, you gotta figure out the sound of impending redline.

Since your limiter failed... $105.21
