The versatility is a big plus IMO. I rarely keep my River Road throwover bags on, but for overnighters they are great. I made the bag supports quick detach by reversing the bolts so the nut is on the outside. I use the H-D touring windshield a good bit of the time, but this time of year (less hot) it stays off a lot. I also change seats for longer trips, and I have a tall sissy bar with a luggage rack if I eally want to load up (rarely used). Here's a pic with bags, W/S, and different seat. Not sexy, but functional.
ditto. I really like the Bobber look & ride, but its great to be able to go on a long trip. I just got back from a 4 day trip with my wife - everything went great, and 10 minutes after arriving home, its stripped down, back to normal.
I have the HD Compact Quick Detach shield. I don't really dig the saddlebag look so I go with the Kuryakyn Ultra Tour Bag on my sissy bar when I need a bag.
